Zesty and bright, with a smooth presence that makes it inviting, while underscoring the supple tropical flavors.

  • Tasting Notes
This wine is the palest yellow color, showing a hint of green and crystal clarity. The nose displays a lovely balance between gooseberry and green pear notes, and riper elements of green melon and mango. On the palate, it is zesty and bright, with a smooth presence that makes it inviting, while underscoring the supple tropical flavors.
  • Wine Origin
We worked with two exceptional vineyards to create this stunning Sauvignon Blanc. The Dutton family’s renowned Jewell Ranch is planted to the Sauvignon Blanc “Musque” Clone. This clone provides beautiful aromatics, unique complexity and the stylistic foundation of our Clockwise Sauvignon Blanc. The remaining 40% of the blend is from a new property, River Road Ranch. Just off River Road in the heart of Russian River Valley, this vineyard has lush, fertile soil and is often blanketed by heavy fog, which is ideal for the cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc grape.
  • Production Notes
2019 brought a moderate, cool growing season. The Jewell Ranch “Musque” fruit was picked on 9/12/2019 at 21.9 Brix. This wine has nice acidity and grassy aromatics. River Road Ranch was picked in a riper style on 9/25/2019 at 23.9 Brix, which produced tropical aromas and great palate weight.
  • Winemaker Notes
In order to maximize quality, the harvested grapes went directly to press as whole clusters, and were gently pressed. This provides a distinct mouthfeel texture. To capture the unique style of each vineyard, the juice was fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks using a special yeast to maximize tropical and fruit-forward aromatics. The Jewell Ranch was aged in tank, while the River Road Ranch wine was put down to barrel to further enhance the palate weight. To keep the style juicy and lean, the wine did not go through malolactic fermentation, creating a bright, refreshing Sauvignon Blanc.
