At just 9 barrels produced, this limited production Pinot Noir from a Sangiacomo property in the Petaluma Gap AVA has a lively perfume, rich palate and firm, well-integrated tannins.

  • Tasting Notes
This Pinot Noir has a lively perfume and plum aroma that is rounded out with enticing notes of clove and all-spice. The palate is rich and mouthcoating, with firm well-integrated tannins underscoring the fruit, while providing abundant structure to ensure that this wine will age for years to come.
  • Accolades
90 Points, Wine Enthusiast Advance Buying Guide: “Light and bright in strawberry and spicy cardamom, this wine is also alight with coffee and tea flavors and an abiding element of earthy mint.” —Virginie Boone, November 13, 2018
  • Wine Origin
The grapes for this Pinot Noir were grown on a Sangiacomo property off of Lakeville Highway in Petaluma. Located in the Petaluma Gap AVA, this site sees consistent wind every afternoon. For three generations, the Sangiacomo family has been growing grapes in Sonoma County. Recognized as master winegrowers, their fruit is highly prized for its consistent quality and delicious flavor profiles.
  • Production Notes
The 2016 vintage had moderate temperatures and consistent weather. Planted to the Pommard clone, the clusters are small and delicate. The fruit was picked in the cool early morning of September 1st, 2016.
  • Winemaker Notes
The fruit was gently destemmed into small open-top fermenters, using state-of-the-art equipment and procedures to avoid any pumping of the must. Inoculation with select yeast strains followed a three-day cold soak, and the caps were managed with a combination of pumpovers and punchdowns. After 10 months of ageing in exclusively French oak barrels, 44% of which were new, we bottled on August 17th, 2017.
